For the last two weeks of October, Laurel is performing on an album release tour with her instrumental project Premo & Gustavsson. For the past two years, Laurel has been collaborating with Swedish nyckelharpist Anna Gustavsson to create an album featuring traditional music from SWE & US as well as new compositions based on both of those roots. Preorder is now open for ‘Fall Away Blues,‘ our upcoming new album – the fourth full length studio album from Red Tail Ring! Tracked by Ian Gorman of Kalamazoo’s beloved La Luna Studio, the album features eight original songs, three traditional interpretations, and one blistering tune. Woven together by RTR’s signature instrumental variety (with guitar, fiddle, and both open-back and gourd banjos) and close harmony singing, the album spins tales of hard times, changing love, and the challenge of finding a place in the world. ‘Fall Away Blues,’ the title track, exemplifies the artistic thrust of the album by functioning both as a declarative command and as a hopeful prayer for better days ahead. Albums will be sent out on or before August 1st. We’re really excited to share all of this new music with you!

We’re happy to announce that we’ll be performing at these fine summer music festivals! From the jamming heaven of Indiana Fiddlers’ Gathering in Battle Ground, IN to the cross-cultural exchange of Quebec’s Festival Mémoire et Racines, to reveling in a bevy of Michigan’s marquee festivals – Hiawatha, Wheatland, and the Earthwork Harvest Gathering, we’re excited to explore alongside festival-goers and to perform for new audiences. Get thee to a festival! We’ll see you this summer!

We’re happy to announce an upcoming international tour for Red Tail Ring this January 2016 – SWEDEN. Laurel will be traveling to Uppsala, Sweden for a composition retreat with her new colleague Anna Gustavsson. During their week together they’ll also be visiting the Folk At Heart Music Conference in Örebro, Sweden with their new duo music.

Following that, Michael will fly in for a week of RTR performances in southern Sweden, including playing as the dance band for Sweden’s own “Viking Square Dance.” Check out the shows page more information about the concerts, and keep in touch via our email list or twitter feed for fun updates during the tour. We’re thrilled to start off 2016 with this robust musical journey – please share the news with your Swedish friends.
